Coach - Mentor - Author
My experience as a coach
I qualified as a coach in 2005. I've coached a huge range of clients in Hertfordshire and across the UK.
My practice in Hitchin is accessible to clients living in neighbouring towns and I also work remotely.
For you reassurance, I'm a Member of the Association for Coaching. My training and experience has been verified.
How I became a coach
I've had three main strands to my career over more than thirty years: education, coaching/mentoring and writing.
Work was rewarding, stimulating and - busy - combining all of those into a portfolio career. Now, my work is solely coaching and mentoring.
I taught English when I moved from the north-east to Surrey, in an independent school - a sister-school to Gordonstoun - and then in the state sector for several years. Relocating to Hertfordshire, I taught and mentored adults going back into education. I also trained in dyslexia, teaching and assessing children and adults. Teaching ticked lots of boxes - in all the roles there was an element of coaching and mentoring.
Coaching is something I genuinely love. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing my clients gain clarity, build confidence, and take real steps toward a career or life that excites them. Whether it’s helping you navigate a big career change, launch a creative business, or simply rediscover your strengths, I feel privileged to work with you.
Everyone’s journey is different, and I see coaching as a partnership—one where I listen, support, and help you find the best path forward. Seeing my clients succeed on their own terms is what keeps me inspired every day.
My work as a writer and a writing coach.
I've written two self-help books for parents and students, based on my experience in education.
This launched my career as a writer on careers, family and education. I'd always wanted to write, but got sidetracked.
Working as a freelance feature writer was challenging, rewarding and was a platform for the things I care about.
I've written for The Times, Telegraph, Guardian and many other national publications and websites.
I contributed regular career features to the Independent, researching career opportunities and courses.
Now, alongside career coaching, I also coach writers - anyone who wants to write or needs input.

The coaching I received from Glynis allowed me to review my current situation, take stock and consider the options. Then, to open my eyes to a clear way forward when previously I was muddled and indecisive. RB, Herts |
Running the same business for over 20 years, I needed to step back and make some difficult decisions about my next career steps. Glynis was able to coach me through this.. AL, Herts |
"Having reached a point where I was able to consider a life change I realised that I didn't know how to go about it. Glynis helped me develop a strategy for identifying what areas I could realistically consider. I now feel I have solid direction. AS Herts |
