Coach and Mentor
How I became a coach...a bit about me.
I'm an Accredited Coach with the Association for Coaching and work within their Global Code of Ethics.
I qualified as a coach in 2005, coaching face-to-face in Hitchin, and remotely with clients across the UK and overseas.
My experience as a coach
I'm a professional career and life coach with over 20 years' experience, after many years in education. What I'm bringing to coaching is my experience in education, using psychology to nurture, motivate and support people to achieve their personal goals.
I've coached hundreds of clients in Hertfordshire, across the UK and overseas. My clients include CEOs, senior managers, academics, teachers, IT specialists, scientists, artists, writers, small business owners and clients, often women, who've taken a break and want to go back into work, often with a different work-life balance.
How I became a coach
Coaching is my second career. My career includes education, coaching and writing. I moved from the north east to Surrey, where I taught English in secondary schools, in state and independent schools including a boarding school. I've taught adults going back into education, added dyslexia training and assessing, and supported adults in their professional careers, including career change.
Although I loved teaching, I became interested in what happened after gaining qualifications. I talked to many people whose career choices made at eighteen, or after university, weren't always for life. And I wanted to be able to help them with those changes, using my experience in education along with my own career changes.
Coaching is something I genuinely love. It's rewarding seeing my clients gain clarity, build confidence, and take real steps toward a career or life that excites them. It's an extension of what I did as a teacher - goal setting, motivating and being supportive.
My work as a writer and a writing coach.
I'm an author of two self-help books for parents and students.
This expanded into freelance feature writing. I've written for The Times, Telegraph, Guardian and many other national publications and websites. I contributed regular career features to the Independent, researching career opportunities and courses. Now, alongside career coaching, I also coach writers - anyone who wants to write or needs input.

I enjoy spending time with my two adult children, walking to keep fit, reading and writing a novel.
